This set of interchanges, on the Pat Bay Highway just south of Sidney, BC, near the Victoria airport, isn’t a whole lot better. No idea how well either works when you’re actually driving through them, but they look mad from the air: https://goo.gl/maps/J6E8jcHWJA62
That Pay Bay one is basically a dumbbell interchange with a lump on one side. Those should actually work quite well.
The one above is a mess mostly because of the rail line in the middle. There are a lot of movements going on in that picture. It makes you wonder how many different phases there are to the traffic lights.
That intersection in Melbourne is similar to the Cape Horn interchange in that it’s 2 highways/main roads that do not intersect at a 90 degree angle, but are parallel or “glancing” with significant traffic crossing through an “X” direction between the two.
