Item from Ian: A debate on home ownership

Ian:  There was some recent data on these rates in Canada/BC also … with similar trends emerging.  A good debate on equity issues wrapped up in the whole home ownership bundle.

The rate of homeownership has declined to where it was in 1965, 62.9 percent.
Homeownership has been seen a vital part of the American Dream. But the rise in homeownership since the mid-1990s fed the housing bubble that almost burst the world economy. Is the decline in homeownership a reason for concern?
