    Yes Sandy . . . walking, is the right thing to do! I haven’t owned a car since 1980 and absolutely it has been the right thing to do!

    . . . but it has its hazards.

    Indeed, I was seven at the time, and was inclined to interrupt my walk depending upon whatever hazard beckoned.

    The hazard on this occasion was a pile of uninstalled drainpipes. Being seven I mounted ceremoniously and promptly demounted unceremoniously carving a lesion in my forehead, visible to this day.

    Luckily Miss Sanderson happened by in her little Morris convertible and drove me home.

    On seeing my blooded face, I know it was blood, my mother appeared thru a reddish haze, she flipped and I don’t remember anything after that.
