OMG. Business owners are finally figuring out that when people are in front of their stores on foot with their wallets out, that’s a good thing.
We have reached a turning point in most of Vancouver with regard to acceptance of cycling and cycling infrastructure. Unfortunately, there are still some business owners on Commercial Drive who think that all their customers arrive by car and that they all park by the front door. This in an area where 15% of trips are made by bike.
Cook St in Victoria is nearly a carbon copy of Commercial and is seeing a carbon copy business backlash. Fascinating how universal this is.
They’ll get over it eventually.
