Welcome to Scot Bathgate (well-known from the “Daily Scot” series of posts) as the guest editor of Price Tags for the next week.
Enjoy yourself, Scot, it will be fun to see where you move the conversation.
Here’s a short bio of Scot, and what he’s aiming for this week.
.
Born in North Vancouver, raised in White Rock, upon graduation from UBC in Landscape Architecture I ventured south, practicing in Orange County, California, before pointing the compass again – this time for Auckland. After being away for 15 years, I’m back with friends and family in Van City.
I’ll let my Twitter handle describe me: Passionate urban scholar, doing it the old-school way, walking and cycling one block at a time. Live for the discovery of the next funky neighbourhood.
I love Southern BBQ and New York-style pizza. Here I am at Joe’s Pizza in New York’s West Village.

.
This week I plan to draw on my experiences from my time spent in New Zealand and my frequent visits to LA, San Diego and SF and other places. In addition I have commissioned some pieces from interesting people I know who have some great ideas about what make cities work. The goal to keep challenging us to make Vancouver even better than it is by pulling in as many outside ideas as we can.

Hey Scot, how about an article about the new proposals for the new South False Creek Seawall designs:
