October in New York: New Architecture – the Whitney

 

The latest splash is the new Whitney Museum of American Art in the Meat-Packing District, at the southern-most end of the High Line, designed by Renzo Piano.

A gallery may be primarily a box full of boxes – but the urban-design test is how it relates to its context.  Does it provide, in some way, a stage for the city?
