In Panama City, where 5,000 new cars are sold every month, traffic congestion has been an increasing problem. The proposed remedy: a new transit system that would enable fast, efficient and eco-friendly transportation for people traveling into and across the city. The Metro’s Executive Secretary Roberto Roy explains how financing and guidance from Citi helped make this time-saving and pollution-reducing idea a reality for more than 200,000 Panamanians each day.

  1. We spend a lot of time in Panama and it is rush hour all the time–snail’s pace congestion punctuated by kamikazee daring 24/7. We stay in the Radisson Decapolis with an ocean and freeway view and at any hour there is a stream of red lights. There is a new subway but it doesn’t seem to have made a difference.
