I agree. That is a better use. But why care if it’s “showy” or not? The poor and middle class can’t live in ‘showy’ buildings? Nothing but Soviet cubes for them? And why “fear” over these types of buildings?
Showy generally costs money, to buy and maintain. As a proudly middle class person I would rather have a solid, well built building than a twisting, turning box-ridden starchitect project.
