For those still interested after the hoo-hah over Burrard’s millionth bike ride, August was another puzzle:
- Rides in August, 2015: 169,141 (2014 – 178,000) – a decrease in 2015 of 5 percent compared to 2014.
- Rides year-to- date, 2015: 1,043,116 (2014 – 869,000) – a YTD increase of 20 percent over 2014.

.
For those also interested in a little Millionth ride trivia, here’s when the million occurred in past years:
- 2010 – early November
- 2011 – late November
- 2012 – mid December
- 2013 – n/a
- 2014 – late September
- 2015 – August 22
2010 is an anomaly since the Winter Olympics encouraged many people to abandon their motor vehicle and quite a few turned to their bike.
2014 is the year that the Point Grey Road traffic calming arrived. This may have attracted a few people on bikes.

Any particular reason why there’s no record for 2013?
We didn’t reach a million by year end 2013 on that route. Which makes the August 2015 count quite remarkable.
