I’m posting this request from a friend because it’s the best way I know to reach a lot of people – and to give some insight on how tough it is to find space in Vancouver:
My son (25 years old) is coming to UBC and is having a hard time finding a place to live. I wonder if you know of any situation near UBC, or on appropriate bus routes, and could possibly pass on any contacts in that regard.
Please let me know as he starts in September but could take it now. He was counting on campus residence but did not get in. He prefers a cooperative/ shared situation, but anything will do at this point! He is non-drinking and a good person. I appreciate your consideration.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t help now, but a good time to look for places is in April, when current students are packing up and leaving. Some basement suite owners will rent it out by finding tenants for the summer AND the school year just before the current school year ends.
