Brent Toderian passed along this summary video of the planning process he’s part of in Abbotsford:
.
.
Worth watching for three reasons:
- It’s an optimistic expression of possibility in a place that’s more about our future than the urban core
- It’s the best example I’ve seen recently of how to condense a lot of traditional material – lectures, interviews, PowerPoint presentations – into a very watchable format.
- It doesn’t allow comments – since nothing quite distracts from the focus of a process than the trolling negativity of social media

Well said Abbotsforward. Go for it . . .
Awesome start, good job Jeff & Brent. A little concerned when the major says, “What we are trying to achieve isn’t going to happen over night”. Don’t lose the momentum, I have seen this happen before. Start something THE NEXT DAY, do a pilot project, instigate some quick: Tactical Urbanism measures (Throw some tables and chairs in a bleak area, put some planters in and get our the paint and colour up some asphalt to define a new space). Just do it!
