Ken Ohrn: Researchers at the London School of Economics (with help from Victoria’s Todd Litman) have published a paper on urban transportation, and the consequences of various choices about how people move around in cities. The focus is on transportation and the urban form, and is part of a larger study on the New Climate Economy.
It helped me to improve my thinking around the question: “What does a low-carbon world look like?”
And how timely for a region facing a transit referendum.
.
Todd Litman: This is part of a series of studies that provide guidance on ways to create cities that are economically dynamic, healthier, and that have lower emissions for the Global Commission on the Economy and Climate. Here is the current set. I’m working now on the critical study which estimates the costs of sprawl and the economic benefits of more smart growth development.
