While Habitat 67 (pictured) looked interesting at Montreal’s Expo 67, it was a bit of a flop as housing for a number of years after the fair ended. To get to many of the units, you had to walk along open elevated walkways where you had to brave the icy winter winds coming off the St. Lawrence River. There were also no services nearby so you were forced to drive your car everywhere. Nowadays it’s much more successful and actually looks pretty good with the greenery. As I recall, it was never built as large as it was suposed to be because construction problems caused delays.

To me Habitat evokes extremely fuzzy memories of the UN conference held in the Jericho seaplane base hangars in the mid 1970s.
Me too.
