Connecting Big Data with Many People

“Big Data” is one of today’s greatest challenges, and at the same time an unprecedented opportunity.  It’s often described as the explosion of the velocity, volume, variety, veracity, and value of digital information. Unlocking and making sense of this vast treasure trove of data is of immense value to essentially every sector and can yield untold benefits to society and individuals.
This lecture highlights the exciting research on big data analytics under the central theme of connecting Big Data with many people by enabling its management, integration, exploration and application. It examines some of the novel research challenges presented by Big Data and how leveraging its potential is changing the world.

Pei

Jian Pei is Professor of Computing Science at Simon Fraser University. He is widely regarded as one of the world’s top researchers in the area of data mining and his work has been embraced by industry and government.
