Scot asks:

The CPR has removed the community gardens due to trespassing, however they don’t seem to mind the auto body shops storing cars along and over their easement.  What gives?

  1. Did you research whether the auto shops are paying to lease the land?
The CP Rail survey plans show many areas shaded in gray to mark leased areas. They are marked with “Lease No. _______”.
Leased out areas include both sides of the Arbutus corridor from West 2nd Ave to West 4th Ave. and behind buildings north of West 12th Ave. (one leased area marked “Broken asphalt parking”).

Go to “Arbutus Corridor Map” and download it – its easy.

  2. Guest is absolutely correct. It is easy to see on the maps which areas are leased, and which are not. It is interesting to note that the “military vehicle parking” area shown between 10th Ave and 11th Ave (page 8 of the PDF) is not noted as a lease area.
