Michael Den Tandt: “Harper cements northern legacy despite glaring policy omissions”
… the words climate change were not uttered a single time over the span of six days, by the prime minister or any of his ministers, that I am aware of. At this late juncture, with the Arctic so central to their plans, that is simply astonishing.

Let’s stick our fingers in our ears, close our eyes and scream at the top of our lungs at any mention of climate change while simultaneously ramming through a resource extraction strategy that depends on ice melting in the Arctic.
October 2015 can’t come soon enough.
Don’t believe all the hype about man-made global warming .. we’ve heard this before .. ozone hole, pine beetles, Club of Rome, global cooling, acid rain, no more resources, peak-oil .. all exaggerated or utterly untrue .. the ONLY meaningful change with real impact is less consumption and less coal use in China.
The third most meaningful impact would be higher gasoline prices, i.e. smaller cars, and even in the US that is not even suggested. Their gasoline prices are ridiculously cheap.
Or less humans, as 8B+ people have more of an impact than 4B people or 200M people ..
Anything Canada does, even if Canada (or the evil “tar”sands and the evil pipelines and the evil LNG and the evil coal export) seized to exist, would have no meaningful impact on the globe whatsoever, and as such political leaders here are smart to avoid this topic. People here care about other issues.
The climate has been warming for a few thousand years, even without humans. Get used to it. Adapt. Isn’t this what Darwin suggested as his theory ? (or was it a fact ?)
“The climate has been warming for a few thousand years…Get used to it”
…said the frog in the simmering pot.
