Okay, so the weather was abysmal on Sunday – but people still turned out for this year’s Jane’s Walks. And on Saturday, I had the perfect crowd: 15 interested, varied, well-informed walkers (one even knew how long a chain was!) – and only a few drops of precip.
Here we are at the traditional ending point of the tour through West of Denman:

A tip of my fedora to Jen Harvey, who helped make it happen.
Glad you had a nice walk, but the photo of these wonderful statues provides an opportunity to talk about them. I feel their presence and attractiveness has been diminished by the addition of a gravel base. The problem isn’t the material, but rather the colour. Anyone knows brown and grey don’t go together. The base needs to be a warm brown tone – the statues looked much happier and more striking when they were nestled in bark mulch. If it had to be stone, then fine (although I dispute that), but you can get brown or beige stone. The use of the grey stone is a design fail that does not do the statues justice.
