Embracing ComplexCity: the 6th annual SCARP Student Symposium

Friday, February 7 at UBC

 
At this year’s Symposium, we will explore ways to respond to the ‘wicked problems’ of the twentieth-century – environmental, social and economic challenges like climate change and demographic shifts. How can we work towards improving the resilience of our cities and regions in the face of uncertainty and complexity?

  • Andrew Weaver, Landsdowne Professor in the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences at University of Victoria and a lead author in the IPCC’s Climate Change 2007 report
  • Ann Maje Raider, Executive Director at Liard Aboriginal Women’s Society
  • John Friedmann, Honorary professor at SCARP, UBC and author of many publications including Planning in the Public Domain: From Knowledge to Action.
