Bootcamp: Economics, taxes and inequality – Nov 19, 22

From the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives:

Everything you wanted to know about economics, taxes and inequality: An interactive policy bootcamp

Who: This workshop is intended for people who are engaged in social justice and environmental work who would like to deepen their understanding of and ability to communicate about economics, inequality, and taxation.

What:

  • Economics, inequality, and taxes from Seth Klein

Learn how the economic system works, how it could be made more just, and how to argue with your right wing uncle.

  • Communications and framing skills from Shannon Daub

How you say something can matter almost as much as what you say.  Learn how best to communicate about economics, inequality, taxes, and many other issues.

  • Storytelling for community engagement from Randy Galawan

Stories have a unique power to engage people on an emotional level. Using stories to talk about issues that you care about makes them more interesting, emotionally connecting, and memorable.

  • Facilitation skills and support for running workshops from Randy Galawan

Discussing in a group can be difficult, with strong personalities, some people hesitant to participate, and not know where you fit in to it all. Learn skills that make group discussions flow more easily and give everyone a chance to participate.

.

When: This is a one and a half day training.  Participation is required on both days:

o   Tuesday, November 19 – 5:30PM – 9PM /  Friday November 22 – 9:00AM – 4PM
