Water features in Seattle’s public spaces discovered on Pride weekend in July:
.
Old: The International Fountain at Seattle Centre (map here), dating back to the 1962 World’s Fair – not as clever as current computerized water features, but truly a classic. Every Seattleite must have a memory associated with one of the great gathering places in this region:

.
New (to me): The Cal Anderson Park Fountain (map here) that covers what was once an old reservoir:

New: The children’s water feature at Lake Union Park (map here):

Now … name the Vancouver equivalents.

The waterpark in front of Coal Harbour’s Mill Marine Bistro is always lively and filled with kids and families. A very peaceful, happy place.
There was a cute little water park in Burnaby’s Confederation Park. It had a couple of mock ships with water “cannons” and was heavily used in the summer. Last year they tore it all down and paved it over. It’s now a black asphalt surface with a weak fountain. It was never anything to compete with Seattle but they took something minor and killed it, very sad.
Chaldecott Park in Vancouver and the water park in Steveston are both fun for kids.
I have very fond memories from my childhood of playing at the Granville Island waterpark (near the community centre), and at the waterpark at Lumberman’s Arch in Stanley Park (especially the walk-in kid dryer!).
How about the water park on the north side of Stanley Park Drive.
