Pictures I get from friends

Especially when they’re travelling.
Here’s a startling one from Sean Hodgins – at least for me when opening my mail first thing in the morning:
Gravestone

The picture was taken at the Coriano Ridge War Cemetery close to the Adriatic coast.
This and two other nearby cemeteries relate to the battles associated with the breaking of Hitler’s Gothic Line, Germany’s defensive position at that point in the war. Coriano Ridge has over 400 Canadians of the alnost 2,000 total Commonwealth casualties. Very moving.

Indeed.
My name also comes to mind, for some reason, when friends see something bike-related – like this one from Renate Bublick:
Europe 2013 2013-06-29 003

I took this picture at the central train station in Freiburg, Germany.  This bike garage is multi-level and certainly a better way and more efficient way to store all those bikes using less of a land footprint..
