Since images are coming in every week that capture the extremes of weather indicative of the new normal, we might as well keep track with a new category.
Here’s one from the rainstorm in Toronto yesterday:

And, according to the insurance industry, we aint seen nothing yet. Prediction: $17 billion a year in weather-related losses every year in Canada alone.
So where will the money come from? What infrastructure will we choose not to build so we can pay for mitigation and adaptation? In our case, for instance, does that new highway tunnel under the Fraser get constructed, or dikes to protect the affluent suburbs in Delta on the other side? (I know, silly question.)
