My Lions Club purchased the unit and has allocated a budget to maintain and repair it during pilot study after which we will report to the city and they can determine if they want to roll them out in more locations. I initiated this project last year, but it only really gained steam this spring when a group of students from CityStudio started identifying and negotiating locations on private land where the city did not have to be involved.
The second unit is being installed today in the courtyard at Woodward’s.
My goal in doing this is to raise the profile of Vancouver South Lions Club with healthy, young (younger than our average member, which is not hard to beat) community-minded city-dwellers.
