HUB: Your Cycling Connection is seeking an individual with a passion for cycling, sustainable design and transportation planning to join our Bike Friendly Business Program team as a new Bikeability Consultant.
HUB: Your Cycling Connection is a charitable organization making cycling better through education, action and events. We’re leading the way in making cycling an attractive choice for everyone.
The ideal candidate is an individual with previous experience, knowledge and exposure to transportation planning, traffic engineering, or architectural or commercial building design. This individual will have some flexible weekday availability and is looking for part-time work. Many assessments are scheduled during business hours, so we will only consider applicants who have a reasonable amount of daytime availability. Hours will vary seasonally and based on availability.

Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for conducting bikeability assessments (based on the regional bikeability standard developed by HUB) throughout Metro Vancouver, with a large portion of the assessments delivered in Vancouver. It will also assist with the ongoing development of bikeability assessments as a program offering.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Previous experience in the design of commercial buildings, site inspection and reporting for building construction or renovation
• Extensive knowledge about green building and sustainable design, commercial building construction process, and bicycle parking products
• Superior verbal and written communication skills
• Familiarity with building construction project work flow and current Building Bylaws
• Ability to read architectural, electrical and mechanical drawings and create detailed drawings of bike rooms and other cycling infrastructure in CAD
• Understanding of construction specifications
• Excellent knowledge of local regional cycling network and love of cycling for transportation
• Professional and reliable
• Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment, discretion and tact
• Must have own computer or access to a computer with a copy of CAD software to produce architectural drawings
