NINE KIDS ON BIKES

A great photoessay on how a platoon of 9 kids and 6 adults spent a day biking (and dancing with robots) in San Francisco.

BURRARD-JERICHO ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION CORRIDOR

The City is looking at constructing an active transportation corridor that will connect Burrard Bridge to Jericho Beach. This route was originally identified in the 1995 Greenway Plan and again more recently in the 2040 Transportation Plan.

During this first phase of consultation, staff hope to learn where the route should go (what street) from residents and current/potential future users.

Once staff have a recommended design, there will be a second round of public consultation before the design goes to Council.

NEW YORK DOES A TORONTO

From Streetsblog:

The Post reported some good news this morning: NYC DOT has contracted with Louis Barbato Landscaping to make 12,000 bike racks that can be affixed to defunct single-space parking meter poles.

A few years ago, when DOT started phasing out single-space meters en masse and replacing them with Muni meters, it seemed like there was no plan to replace these de facto bike parking spaces. But since DOT has been quick on its feet to repurpose the old meters, thousands of them are going to be upgraded into bike racks.
