Earlier this year a local shop owner lamented that he thought West Fourth was going to become like Robson in a few years. I hope he was wrong! According to this article, there’s still a long ways to go before rents on Fourth reach Robson levels.
I did notice that those snowboard shops started getting into the bicycle business a lot more this summer, too.
The retail space in the Mantra (?) condo at 4th and Pine (?) was leased to No Frills. Presumably, they couldn’t find a tenant that was “higher end”. There are apparently, a lot of “for lease” signs on the main part of the 4th Ave. strip up the hill.
