The “turf as rug” theme screams – dying (or temporary) grass! I don;t think turf can survive long on concrete or asphalt – or if it does, maintaining it (i.e. in hot weather) wouldn’t be sustainable.
As for the other examples of “container gardening” – I might rather see the plants in the ground and the steel and metal containers recycled for their materials (rather than leaching rust into the ground).
