Always pleased to feature an artist for whom Vancouver is an inspiration. In this case, Enda Bardell:
… a Canadian artist living and working in Vancouver, British Columbia. After her early forays into abstract painting in the late 1960s she has explored representational painting in oil,
watercolour, and acrylic. Most recently she has returned to hard-edge metaphysical abstracts in acrylics which allow her an open-ended exploration of visioning and to test the boundaries of the composition, how far form, color combination, or pattern can be extended before it collapses.
.
Here’s a sample taken from her “Downtown Vancouver, Abstracted” series – WALL (Acrylic on Canvas, 24″ x 24″):
.
Some of her abstracts are at the VAG Art Rental and Sales. She’ll be renting a larger studio for a couple of months in Tinseltown as of April 1, hoping to be there from 12 noon to 5:30 pm. [Is the ill-fated mall at International Village (map here), referred to as Tinseltown after the movieplex, becoming a home for artists’ studios – perhaps an example of commercial space reconfiguring itself for more creative uses?]
