Fleishman-Hillard Canada is Hiring

That post from the City’s Planning Director seemed to generate some interest from PT readers.  While this isn’t a jobs board, it may be helpful to post those positions that fit what I think is the profile of y’all out there.

We are taking this opportunity to recruit for a new, permanent position at the VP level. A description of the position is below. This individual will be taking on some of my client portfolio while I’m on leave as well supporting other accounts. It’s an exciting role with a strong focus on corporate communications and issues management.

Vice President – Public Affairs and Corporate Communications

The successful candidate will play a significant role in Fleishman-Hillard’s communications practice, providing strategic counsel to clients, managing multiple accounts and developing new business. This role encompasses a wide range of activities including media and community relations, public affairs, crisis and corporate communications, issues management and people management. We are looking for a well-rounded, confident and seasoned communications professional who is comfortable working with executives and thrives in a fast-paced and results-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Successfully manage the communications programs and strategies for a highly reputable client portfolio
  • Build strong relationships with clients and serve as the day-to-day client contact and account team manager on multiple client accounts
  • Staff projects effectively and manage client expectations
  • Provide project management, strategic and tactical implementation of client programs, events and media relations campaigns, leading materials development, media strategy and results tracking
  • Identify, respond to and lead new business pitches
  • Supervise writing and editing according to clients’ marketing and business goals
  • Manage billing, reporting and client contract negotiations
  • Coach and mentor junior team members by effectively delegating work and providing frequent and constructive feedback

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years experience in public affairs and corporate communications, with an in-depth background in reputation and issues management, emergency preparedness and crisis counsel, media relations, public relations and business development
  • Post secondary degree or equivalent experience
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex and high-profile projects
  • Experience dealing with senior executives in a complex, competitive and dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated skills in strategic communications, with a solid track record of building positive relationships and networks with media, clients, community, government and key interest groups
  • Strong knowledge of current communications strategies, specifically crisis and issues management
  • Comfortable dealing with internal and media stakeholder groups and meeting their communications needs and priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills, leadership qualities and a sense of humour
  • Proven abilities in the areas of external networking, coaching, staff mentoring and media training
  • Excellent writing and project management abilities
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Must be a self-starter and driver, challenging the team and clients – someone who also asks “what else can we do?”
  • Proven track record in providing leadership and strategic counsel to clients on corporate positioning, communications and issues management
