News from the TransLink Mayor’s Council:
At today’s Mayors’ Council meeting, District of North Vancouver Mayor Richard Walton was elected chair of the Mayors’ Council on Regional Transportation and West Vancouver Mayor Pamela Goldsmith-Jones was elected Vice Chair.
Mayor Walton will replace outgoing Chair Peter Fassbender (Mayor of the City of Langley), while mayor Goldsmith-Jones replaces outgoing Vice Chair Joe Trasolini (Mayor of Port Moody).
Leadership is now coming from the North Shore, not South of the Fraser. That’s a big difference, coming at a delicate time.
The North Shore mayors have previously indicated a willingness to look at road pricing – including some kind of bridge toll. Still?

If you’re suggesting the North Shore Mayors are seriously willing to consider tolls on the First and Second Narrows Bridges, I would politely suggest you might want to check that statement with them first. Personally, I find that very, very difficult to believe.
Will those same North Shore Mayors be willing to consider tolls on other bridges serving the communities south of the Fraser? Of course!
