Check out this fantastic web tool, and it works for Vancouver too! Mapnificent visually shows you – from any given point – how far you can go using public transit in a given amount of time.
You can even go into the settings and select whether you have a bicycle – which increases access to stations and stops, and grows your catchment area accordingly.

Interesting results. Too bad it assumes I can walk on water and through walls! It’s only a matter of time though before tools like Mapnificent and Walkscore (www.walkscore.com) use actual street network data – then they’ll be really powerful.

Saw it and really loved it. It’s not perfect but ti really does give a better understanding of how our city’s transit network actually works.
