I lived for a month in an apartment that was just under 300 square feet at 600 Drake Street.  I learned a few things. Less is more, if not essential.  Floor-to-ceiling glass helps a lot.  It only works for one person.  And above all, adapt the room for a variety of uses throughout the day.

But I was nowhere near as imaginative as this chap.  His apartment in Hong Kong is only 330 square feet but he can do some amazing transformations.

  1. I lived for 3 years in a 225 sq ft in-law unit in Marin County. No cool sliding walls, Murphy bed or ensuite laundry, but it worked. Started out with a large storage locker and gradually pared down as I built storage and got rid of stuff. 10 foot ceilings help. Fabulous view of the bay, if you ignored the 101 maybe 80 feet away down the hill.

  2. I gather this is the agreed upon solution to the high price of housing in Vancouver, smaller and smaller apartments.
