Herb Auerbach passes along a little gem:

Many years ago I saw this film when it was first produced, lost track of it, and have been searching for it ever since.  It has just surfaced and I want to share it with you.

The National Film Board of Canada recently published it as one of 50 animated films that can be seen free on the internet.  It is a must see, and I urge you take the 9 minutes of running time to view it.

This 1966 animated short proposes what many earthlings have long feared – that the automobile has inherited the planet. When life on Earth is portrayed as one long, unending conga-line of cars, a crew of extra-terrestrial visitors understandably assume they are the dominant race. While humans, on the other hand, are merely parasites. An Oscar®-nominee, this film serves as an entertaining case study.

  1. I remember a comedian making the same case for dogs. Afterall, we primp them, wash them, feed them, it can be debated who takes who for a walk (we often walk behind them), and we subserviently pick up their droppings. So who is really in charge?
