Here’s a recommendation outside the usual Price Tags orbit – but this broadcast on National Public Radio in the States is so brilliant, I’d highly encourage a listen. Partly because it’s so important a subject (the GFC, or Global Financial Crisis), but mainly because it’s so entertaining.

Even if trying to understand complex financial instruments like Collaterized Debt Obligations (CDOs) seems intimidating, do not fear. Much will be explained with a clarity that might even allow you to explain it to others.
And for those who have read enough to be conversant with the backstory, there’s stuff here – namely about the role a hedge fund called Magnetar played – that will outrage you all over again.
