This weekend’s Blogathon is attracting some good people for good causes.  Here are two:

Karen Quinn Fung:

Starting 6am on July 25th, I’m going to be participating in a distributed Internet fundraiser called Blogathon, where I will be writing and publishing one blog post to my personal blog for 24 hours, in order to raise money for the Vancouver Public Space Network, our local public space advocacy group.

Each post will focus on issues of public space and the past and future work of the VPSN, as well as topics that I have written about or been involved with, such as

– public transit riding culture

– celebratory activism

– open data and open government; and

– politics and community planning in the age of social media and Internet collaboration and organizing.

Now and throughout the Blogathon day, I am seeking pledges for my fundraiser. Pledges can be made as a lump sum or on a per-post basis, based on how many posts I to complete.

I’m doing a 24 hour, 49 blog posts, 1 post every 30 minutes marathon of blogging from Saturday at 6:00am (July 25th) to Sunday at 6:00am (July 26th). If you feel like dropping by WorkSpace (21 Water Street, suite 400, buzz 400) by all means feel free to do so, if you are in Vancouver.

My Blogathon 2009 is again to raise funds for the BC Cancer Foundation. I’ve lost family members to cancer and I have very near and dear friends of mine fighting the disease. It’s a very worthy cause.

Here is my Blogathon 2009 page. Please, if you deem worthy, blog about it, tweet about it, put it on your Facebook status or share it with your Facebook friends. More importantly, regardless of whether you choose to support my cause or any of my fellow Blogathoners, please remember that we are all Blogathoning for a good cause.
