Two recommendations for those interested in transportation – particularly transit, walking and cycling. (I hesitate to label them ‘alternative’ transport ’cause in many cases they are the dominant modes.)
From Australia comes Human Transit

This is the personal blog of Jarrett Walker, currently with McCormick Rankin Cagney in Sydney. But Jarrett, who hails from Oregon, has experience around the world, including TransLink in Vancouver. Jarrett has more common-sense insights about transit and how it works than anyone I know. His ability to point out obvious considerations (obvious after he points them out) is invaluable.
And he’s bringing in fresh news from Australia – like this visual analysis of a new subway station in Brisbane (it comes with a surprise).
The other blog comes out of Paris – but is truly international in scope. The legendary Eric Britton has recruited voices from around the world, which he aggregates in his blog World Streets.
Here’s an indication of the reach of World Streets:

Bonus blog: Seattle architect and policy wonk David Schraer has just started his new blog Light and Air, “devoted to public policy with a predictable emphasis on the built environment.”
