Oh, those engineers: always thinking big.
Breaking Down the Walls – An Event to Address Engineers’ Barriers and Potential
Thursday March 21 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
#210 – 128 West Hastings Street (the HIVE)
What is the impact individual engineers have in society daily? What is the role of engineers in addressing global issues such as water and food shortages? How can the problem solving skills engineers have be best put to use in the context of globalization?
The Engineers Without Borders’ Global Engineering Venture aims to challenge the current public perception of engineers and promote change within the profession to integrate a holistic view of social, environmental and political issues to technical projects through innovation, creativity and collaboration. In so doing, GE expects to improve the quality of engineers required to tackle the new global challenges.
Join Engineers Without Borders’ GE venture as we break down the walls and obstacles of the engineering profession in relation to ‘the big picture’. This presentation will challenge the ideas of an engineer’s limitations in our daily work, introduce the concepts of the ‘Global Engineer’ and how these principles apply to your development as a professional, as a leader and as a community member in today’s complex societies.
